The United States (US) has announced that a presidential delegation shall be in attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13. 

In a statement from the White House, President Joe Biden confirmed that 5 members of the presidential delegation shall attend the inauguration led by United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai.

Other members are US Ambassador to Kenya The Honorable Meg Whitman,  U.S. representative from Texas Colin Allred,  Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs Mary Catherine Phee, and Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa, U.S. Agency for International Development Dr. Monde Muyangwa.

Additionally, at least 20 Heads of State and government across Africa will also be expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony at the Kasarani stadium. 

Also some 2,500 VIPs are expected to grace the occasion. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to PS Karanja Kibicho, is already making protocol arrangements to handle the guests.

With a large number of attendees expected to be present as Ruto takes oath of office, Kibicho said car pooling arrangements have been made with Kenyan VIPs to minimise traffic and a possible parking crisis.

The National Police Service (NPS) has also been directed to sufficiently deploy boots to secure the area.
